Fuel Up With Chocolate Giveaway Winner

Sorry it’s taken a few days to announce the winner. The random number generator came up with 3, which means the winner is RunnngLaur!

Welcome to the new readers, and thanks to everyone for entering. I’ve got a couple more ideas for giveaways (not fuel products this time) so I hope you’ll continue to stick around. 2010 is already looking like it’s going to be an exciting year with my big move to Baltimore, and of course lots of fun races both in AZ and on the East Coast (and maybe one or two somewhere in between).

Fuel Up With Chocolate Giveaway

It’s time for another giveaway!

As a little background… Since my lupus flare-up in October/November, I’ve had to cut a lot of foods out of my diet. From a Western medicine point-of-view, none of my doctors have really made any recommendations about what or what not to eat. However, I also see a traditional Chinese medicine doctor occasionally and there are certain foods that from an Eastern medicine standpoint I should either avoid or have only sparingly. It’s hard for me to explain, but some foods are thought to contribute directly to the possibility of another flare-up. In other instances it’s not exactly about lupus, but more about having the right balance of food to keep me healthy.

Unfortunately one of the foods I’m not supposed to eat is chocolate. At first I was very sad, but suprisingly I don’t miss having chocolate that much on a general daily basis. Trader Joe’s has some amazing Butter Waffle Cookies and Ultimate Vanilla Wafers that I’ve been using to get my sugar fix.

On the running/walking side however, it’s been a bit more difficult because all of my favorite fueling and post-workout recovery products are chocolate flavored. I love, love, love the mint chocolate GU. Luckily I’ve found other GU gel flavors that I like, and I can still have the fruity GU chomps. On the other hand it’s actually been harder than I expected to find an energy bar that doesn’t have chocolate or nuts in it. So far I think the only Clif Bar flavor I’ve found is apricot.

Anyway, since I can’t have these yummy chocolate products, I’m going to share them with a lucky winner instead. The giveaway includes everything pictured below, plus a couple other extras that I picked up after I took the photo.

To enter, simply leave a comment naming your favorite fuel product and why. One comment/entry per person.

Edit: After receiving some friendly advice, I’ve decided to include a second entry if you share about this giveaway. It can be through a link on your blog, a Twitter update, an email to a friend, or however else you can think of. Just leave a second comment telling me that you helped spread the word.

All comments must be made by 11:59pm MST on Sunday, December 27.

Note that I’m deliberately not making the request that you follow my blog as a requirement to enter the giveaway because I hate feeling obligated to do so with other contests I’ve seen. Now that I’ve been blogging for awhile and posting more regularly, I feel a good next step is trying to attract more readers. However, I’d rather have people follow me because they’re interested in what I have to say and not just because they want to win something. So if you like what you see and want to keep reading, yay and thank you. And if not, feel free to enter the giveaway anyway, and I’m glad you at least stopped by for a look.

“It’s December Already?” Giveaway Winner

Thanks to everyone who left comments for the giveaway. I’ve been stocking up on a lot of the winter gear that was mentioned. (I can’t figure out how I made it through last winter without gloves and ear covers!) There were a couple comments about arm sleeves which I’ve been seeing a lot more of lately, but hadn’t really considered for myself yet. Arm sleeves would be one way to keep wearing short sleeves through winter like Tricia in South Florida does. I’m jealous. It’s so cold over here on the west coast right now. This morning I finally got around to taking my wool sweaters out of the storage bin.

Before my lupus flare-up, I would have agreed with Heather from Run Faster Mommy that my favorite thing about the holidays is the food. Unfortunately I have to watch my diet now, so I guess my next favorite thing is Christmas lights. Instead of seeking out holiday displays, it puts a smile on face whenever I just randomly come across a festively decorated house.

Anyway, on to the important stuff. To determine a winner I listed all the entries in an Excel file, then generated a random number based on the number of rows. The random number just happened to be 1, so the giveaway winner is… Mica! Congratulations!

I already have another giveaway I want to do in the next week or two, so keep checking back for an announcement. (Hint: if you’re a fan of chocolate you’ll really like this one.)

“It’s December Already?” Giveaway

The 4-day weekend definitely came at the perfect time because it gave me lots of free time to catch up and get stuff done. But just a warning… don’t expect the daily posting to continue. I have lots of things I want to blog about, but I also have work, packing and travel (for RNR Las Vegas!), and a bunch of doctor’s appointments to go to.

Anyway, one of the things I did over the weekend was lots of cleaning. I’ve been trying to stay busy so that I don’t spend too much time dwelling on being single and lonely again after an almost six year relationship. With Troy having moved out, I wanted to clean up the place and kind of make it my own. Also with the possibility of moving to Baltimore soon, I wanted to start getting rid of the unnecessary clutter to make packing easier.

While going through my “fuel” shelf in the cupboard, I realized that I have some products that are expiring soon that I’m not going to get around to using. Walking doesn’t seem to require as much fuel as running and I also don’t want to try anything new right now while I’m still kind of recovering. So since I hate for stuff to go to waste, I figured it’s time to hold my very first giveaway!

The “It’s December Already?” giveaway includes:

  • Pomegranate Blueberry FRS Healthy Energy Chews
  • Cran-Razz Clif Shot Bloks
  • Berry Blast Sharkies
  • 2 packets of Cool Citrus Cytomax Performance Drink
  • 50¢ off coupon on any Promax Bar
  • $1.00 off coupon on any two bottles of Talking Rain Activwater

(Note that the Promax Bar coupon expires at the end of 2009, and the chews/blocks have best buy dates of Jan. 2010.)

To enter the giveaway:

  • Required: leave a comment and tell me either 1) what’s your must-have piece of winter training gear, or 2) does your training plan/schedule change in the winter… why or why not? (You can also answer both questions and get two entries.)
  • Optional: leave a comment about your favorite thing to do during the holiday season and get another entry.
  • Optional: spread the word about the giveaway and get another entry if someone else comments that they heard about the giveaway from you.

The giveaway ends at 11:59pm MST on Saturday, December 5 Sunday, December 6. (Edited to extend deadline by one day.)
