Fall Five Miler

I’m on a roll with posts today! I guess the trick is to keep them short and sweet.

Tuesday, September 22 5 mile run (Saucony)

RunningLaur organized a virtual race for the first day of fall. I was actually planning to do cross and strength training at the gym yesterday, but my wrist and elbow joints were hurting so I adjusted my schedule and went for a run instead. Originally I was only going to do a 5k for the virtual race, but I decided to extend my run and go for the five miles. My goal was to finish in 60 minutes. I was blessed with surprisingly cool weather last night and a nice breeze. The run itself was pretty boring – just me and my iPod doing 3+ laps around the neighborhood. Oh, but I did have a weird encounter. There’s a small greenbelt alongside my neighborhood and I ran past a guy walking his dog. I’m almost certain that as I passed he said “Run Forrest Run”. I get the reference, but I have no idea why he said it.

Anyway…

  • Mile 1 – 11:50
  • Mile 2 – 12:13
  • Mile 3 – 12:11
  • Mile 4 – 11:29
  • Mile 5 – 11:13

 Total time: 58:55. I’m happy I made my goal… yay!

Food:

  • dim sum
  • dinner with the extended family – soup, rice, BBQ pork, BBQ duck, chicken, roast pork, choy sum, and fish – cantaloupe and grapes

Saturday, June 27

Food:

  • peanut toffee buzz Clif Bar, mint chocolate GU, one pack of strawberry GU chomps
  • saltine cracker with strawberry jam, bottle of citrus Cytomax, banana
  • dim sum
  • pear
  • three gummi clownfish
  • chow sum and corn, pork, and fish maw soup
  • nanaimo bar (chocolate/coconut crust, custard filling, chocolate topping)

Exercise:

  • 13.1 mile RNR Seattle half marathon (Asics)
  • about 2 mile walk home after the race
  • about 2 mile walk around Ferndale in the evening

Friday, June 26

Food:

  • two Chinese cocktail buns and a glass of milk
  • lots of samples at the RNR Seattle Expo – granola, jazz apple wedges, gold kiwi fruit, Odwalla juice, cran-apple GU chomp, chocolate Muscle Milk, Nuun…
  • at Pike Place Market – cup of clam chowder, chocolate hazlenut pastry
  • bottle of blackberry Talking Rain Activwater
  • pork & carrot soup, white rice, chicken, fish, choy sum

Exercise:

  • about 3 mile walk – from aunt’s house to Expo, then from Expo to Pike Place Market

Thursday, June 25

Wii Fit Weight: 113.5

Food:

  • 1/2 Trader Joe’s blueberry cereal bar
  • leftover panang curry w/ white rice
  • Paradise Bakery – small Paradise pasta, 1/2 turkey cranberry sandwich, chocolate chip cookie
  • rice noodles with choy sum and fish balls

Wednesday, June 24

Food:

  • pumpkin chocolate muffin from Wildflower Bread Company
  • Lean Cuisine grilled chicken caesar
  • panang curry with shrimp and a few bites of Troy’s spicy fried rice – Krua Thai
  • junior mint cupcake (oh so good)

  • 3.12 mile run (Asics)

Tuesday, June 23

Food:

  • oatmeal with brown sugar and peanut butter
  • 1/2 Trader Joe’s blueberry cereal bar
  • Lean Cuisine Rosemary Chicken
  • Trader Joe’s apricot dried fruit bar
  • tri-berry GU
  • stir-fried macaroni with ground pork, mushrooms, and scallions
  • four Girl Scout thin mints
